Athos peninsula

Mount Athos, the easternmost peninsula, is a unique and sacred region. It is an autonomous monastic state and home to 20 Eastern Orthodox monasteries. Access to Mount Athos is restricted to men only, and a special permit is required to visit. The monasteries are perched on the slopes of the mountain and offer breathtaking views.
